HOPE D. WALL SCHOOL

Hope D Wall (1912-2001) was a local pioneer in special education.  This school is named in her honor and supports students with special needs of all ages throughout both East and West Aurora School Districts.  Her legacy is rooted in her love for others and especially children.

It is an honor to work with the HDW team who clearly carry on Ms. Wall’s spirit.

The challenge for this library/learning room was to design for all ages and abilities.  Tables needed to accommodate special equipment and be pneumatically height adjustable.  Soft seating combined with wobble seating and conventional school chairs ensures flexibility and dual-purpose use.

Designed during live design sessions in collaboration with the HDW team, everyone’s voice was heard.

Behind the soft seating is hidden shelving and storage space.  Bookshelves are mobile and the design accommodates technology.

Manufacturers include Alumni Classroom, Versteel, MooreCo, and AIS.  All great partners!
